Ulysses by James Joyce

I have thought hard about what I would like to say about this book and I have realized that I am not qualified to say anything about it.  It was, as expected, difficult, but very rewarding.  I was motivated to pick it up by this woman, Sheila O’Malley, who writes so passionately about it, and so well, that she really left me no other option but to go for it.  A section of her blog, The Sheila Variations, is dedicated to James Joyce & Sylvia Beach.  Read her background on the two of them.  She has a whole lot of info on there to check out (I love the reactions of other writers to the printing of Ulysses - Hemingway in a letter to Sherwood Anderson wrote, ”Joyce has a most goddamn wonderful book.)  READ IT!  You won’t regret the time you spent!
